Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 9, 2026
This policy explains what Tolvo collects, why, and the choices you have. Tolvo is a real-time phone call translation service operated by Li Zebin (李泽斌) as an individual proprietor ("Tolvo", "we", "us"). If anything here is unclear, write to support@tolvo.app.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. Your name, email address, and sign-in credentials, managed by our authentication provider (Clerk). We never see or store your password.
- Phone numbers. Numbers you verify as your own, and numbers you call or that call you through the service.
- Call records. Metadata about your calls: numbers, time, duration, connection status, and the languages selected.
- Call content. Live call audio is streamed to our speech processor to produce transcription and translation in real time. We do not store call audio recordings. We store the text transcripts of your calls and the AI-generated summaries you can view in the app.
- Listen sessions. Audio you translate with the Listen feature (microphone, browser tab, or screen) is processed in real time and never stored as audio. A bounded text transcript of the most recent part of each session is saved to your History so you can revisit it.
- Contacts. Tolvo automatically organizes the numbers you call into a private address book, together with names, notes, and language preferences you add. We never ask you to upload or import a contact list.
- Voice samples (optional). If you use voice cloning, we collect the voice sample you record and the resulting synthetic voice profile, processed by our speech provider (Soniox). This feature is entirely optional.
- Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive your plan, payment status, and billing country, but never your full card number.
- Technical data. Logs, IP address, browser and device information, and in-product usage events, used for security, debugging, and improving the service. We do not use third-party advertising or third-party analytics trackers.
2. How we use information
- To operate the service: connect calls, translate speech, produce transcripts, summaries, and your private address book.
- To meter usage and process billing.
- To provide support and respond to your requests.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse and fraud.
- To understand how the product is used and improve it.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your calls, transcripts, or voice samples to train our own AI models. Our processors are instructed to use your data only to provide their services to us.
3. The other side of your calls
Every translated call plays a short automated announcement to the other party stating that an AI real-time translation service is in use. This announcement cannot be turned off. Depending on where you and the other party are located, laws on call monitoring and transcription may impose additional obligations on you; see the Terms of Service for your responsibilities.
4. Voice cloning
Voice samples and synthetic voice profiles are used solely to speak your side of conversations in your voice. You can delete your voice clone at any time in Settings, which removes it from our speech provider. Voice data is never used for identification, and never shared beyond the speech provider that hosts it.
5. Who we share data with
We share data only with the processors needed to run the service:
- Clerk — account authentication.
- Telnyx — telephone carrier connecting your calls and verifying phone numbers.
- Soniox — speech recognition, translation, speech synthesis, and optional voice cloning.
- Google (Gemini API) — generating call summaries from transcripts.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Cloud hosting and backup providers — running our servers and databases.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of Tolvo and its users. If operation of the service is ever transferred to a successor, your data transfers with it under this same policy.
6. International transfers
Our servers and processors operate in the United States and other locations. By using Tolvo you understand that your data is processed and stored in these locations, which may have different data protection laws than your country.
7. How long we keep data
- While your account is active, we retain your account data, call records, transcripts, summaries, and contacts so the product can show you your history.
- When you delete something in the app (a contact, a voice clone, an edited summary), it is removed from the live database immediately.
- When you ask us to delete your account or specific data, we complete verified requests within 30 days. Residual copies in encrypted backups are overwritten on a rolling basis within 14 days after deletion from the live database.
- Technical logs are kept only as long as needed for security and operations.
8. Your rights
You can access your transcripts, summaries, and contacts in the app at any time, and export call summaries from the call detail page. You can also ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data — including deleting your entire account — by writing to support@tolvo.app from your registered email address. We respond within 30 days. We honor these rights for all users, wherever you live, including rights under the GDPR and CCPA where they apply.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access to production systems is restricted, and payment details never touch our servers. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we treat call content as the most sensitive data we hold and design accordingly.
10. Children
Tolvo is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will give you reasonable advance notice by email or inside the product before they take effect. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
